Search, Answer, and Generative Engine Optimization

  • SEO → Helps your site rank in traditional search results – Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the foundation of a strong digital presence, helping your business appear when customers search for your products or services on Google.
  • AEO → Helps your content be selected as a direct answer – Epic enhances traditional SEO with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), ensuring your brand is also visible in AI-powered search experiences where customers increasingly discover and choose businesses—driving more qualified traffic, leads, and sales.
  • GEO → Helps your brand be named, described, and recommended by AI itself – GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of optimizing your brand, content, and data so AI systems generate you as the answer, recommendation, or example when users ask questions—especially in AI summaries, copilots, and conversational search experiences.

Epic’s SEO, AEO, and GEO Service Methodology

Epic follows a flexible, data-driven SEO, AEO, and GEO methodology designed around what your site actually needs—not a fixed task list. Instead of forcing the same activities every month, Epic evaluates performance, technical health, content relevance, local visibility, and AI-search signals to determine where effort will have the greatest impact.

If on-site optimization, technical SEO, or content improvements will improve rankings faster, Epic prioritizes those—while backlinks or other tactics may pause temporarily. This adaptive approach allows Epic to strengthen trust signals for search engines and AI-driven results, helping your business earn visibility in organic search, local results, and AI-generated answers.

Why this benefits your business: Epic’s strategy prevents wasted effort, accelerates meaningful results, and ensures your brand is positioned as a trusted source across traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered discovery platforms.

Google AOE/PPC/GEO/SEO Ranking Sample Explanation

When someone searches on Google, your business can appear in multiple ways — and each placement requires a different strategy.

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)

AEO focuses on optimizing content so search engines and AI systems select it as a direct answer to user questions.
This includes creating clear, authoritative content supported by strong SEO fundamentals and structured data that directly answers specific search queries.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click Advertising)

PPC places your business in sponsored search results.
You gain visibility by running targeted ads, selecting relevant keywords, setting competitive bids, and optimizing campaigns for performance and quality score.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

GEO helps your business get recommended by AI-powered search tools.
This involves clearly explaining your services, earning strong reviews, and building trusted online content so AI systems recognize your business as a reliable option to suggest.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO improves your website so it ranks higher in organic (non-paid) search results.
This is achieved by optimizing website content, improving technical structure, and building authority signals so search engines understand, trust, and rank your site for relevant keywords.

Why Local SEO Matters More Than You Think

Running a small business is already hard enough. If you have to compete against the big guys, it’s even tougher.

But what many business owners don’t realize is that Google wants small businesses to succeed. They’ve even created free tools to help them do it. But are your clients taking full advantage of them?

Here’s a little known fact: Google’s algorithms for local organic search and its map pack are completely different. So all the work you’re already doing to help your clients rank in organic search might not get them featured in that map pack search “real estate.”

We’ve launched our new Local SEO Boost Package to target the ranking signals Google really cares about and double your chances of showing up in search results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some notes on Organic SEO, and why we recommend a six-month commitment:

Website changes are easy to make and be indexed by Google (when using the right tools), but hard to rank. Here’s an example timeline of the SEO process, starting from scratch:

    • First few hours: Site crawled by Google
    • First day or two: Site is indexed by Google
    • First week: Brand name ranks in Top 10 – unless your brand name is common to lots of other businesses (and your new brand is not), you should see your site ranking for your branded key phrase within a week or so.
    • First month: Ranking for ultra-low competition, long-tail keyword phrases
    • First year or two: Ranking for high-competition, high-volume phrases. This can easily take 3-5 years depending on your competitors. Remember, everyone else out there is doing SEO too!
